Directional Custom Collection Campaign Armoire, Attributed to Milo Baughman

A tall campaign-style armoire from Directional’s Custom Collection, with a deep brown wood finish, warm brass detailing and a substantial fitted interior. A brass band separates the upper and lower case, while recessed campaign pulls and understated upper knobs give the facade a deliberate, tailored rhythm.

Behind the upper doors are open shelves and an interior drawer. Two exterior drawers sit below the upper cabinet. The lower case combines three full-width drawers with a separate cupboard concealing pull-out trays, allowing folded clothing, linens or smaller objects to be organized within one cabinet.

The original Directional Custom Collection metal plaque is retained. Made by Directional in the 1970s, with design attributed to Milo Baughman. Materials: wood, brass and metal hardware.

Condition

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with use and preservation. The wood surfaces retain a rich, attractive finish with scattered scratches, scuffs, small marks, finish variation and areas of surface wear throughout. The top of the lower cabinet exhibits more noticeable scratching and surface wear, including concentrated scratches near the corners and perimeter, as photographed. Brass trim and hardware display expected oxidation, spotting, scratches and naturally developed patina.
The interior shows normal evidence of use, including scattered scratches, marks and finish wear. There is a small area of veneer/wood loss adjacent to one interior hinge, visible in the detailed photographs, as well as it appears that there may have been a repair to the lower hinge areas of the main two doors, as if maybe the screws pulled out and they replaced it with new screws. Doors, drawers, shelving and pull-out storage components are present and the cabinet retains its original Directional Custom Collection label.
The piece is presented in vintage condition and has not been refinished, preserving its period character and original patina.

Style Notes

The dark case and brass accents bridge American modern, Campaign and Hollywood Regency interiors. Its height and fitted storage make it useful as a wardrobe, linen cupboard or substantial living-room cabinet.
