Hundevad Danish Teak Media Bookcase and Credenza, Attributed to Carlo Jensen

A Danish teak storage cabinet combining an open bookcase with a low sliding-door credenza. The tall rectilinear form places the wood grain at the center of the design while providing display, book and media storage within a compact 54-inch width.

The upper bookcase rests on the separate lower cabinet and contains adjustable shelves with subtly beveled front edges. Rear openings allow cords to pass behind the unit. Below, two sliding teak doors with recessed pulls conceal a pale birch interior, adjustable storage fittings and a removable pull-out tray that can be repositioned within the interior tracks.

A Hundevad / Furniture Made in Denmark mark is present on the reverse. Made in the 1960s, with design attributed to Carlo Jensen. Offered as one complete two-section unit.

Condition

Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The teak retains a warm, attractive patina with scattered surface scratches, small marks and areas of finish wear. There is a small veneer loss/chip at one edge/joint as photographed, along with minor scratches to horizontal surfaces. Interior shows light evidence of use. Some tonal variation is visible where adjustable shelving has historically shielded the teak from light exposure, characteristic of naturally photo-reactive teak. Structurally sound and presents beautifully overall. Please review detail photographs.

Style Notes

The combination of open and concealed storage works as a library, record cabinet or display piece. Keeping some shelves lightly arranged allows the contrasting teak exterior and pale interior to remain visible.
